An Ode.
The Prebble family, arriving in New Zealand in 1840, were the first European settlers in the area. Richard and William purchased land in 1852, later joined by their brother Edward. The settlement, originally called Prebble Town, became Prebbleton as more settlers arrived, primarily from England and Ireland, to farm the fertile land.
Edward Prebble opened a bottle store in 1868, which soon became a hotel. Though the original burned down around 1900, it was rebuilt, and major renovations were done by the Gilmores in the 1970s who ran the tavern known as The Prebbleton Village Tavern, up until 2024.
Now the home of Prebbleton Hotel, watch this amazing transform over the next 12 months.
Good things take time.
